Medevac & Air Ambulance Charter Flights

Global Charter arranges rapid-response air ambulance and medevac charter flights worldwide, supporting both critically ill patients requiring intensive care transport and individuals who need urgent medical repatriation. We provide access to a global network of certified air ambulance operators and medically configured aircraft, including dedicated air ambulances, stretcher-equipped business jets, helicopters, turboprops and commercial aircraft for specialist long-haul repatriation.
Working across international networks, we coordinate each mission around the specific clinical, operational, and logistical requirements involved, ensuring the most appropriate aircraft and medical configuration is deployed for every situation.
Every medical mission is unique. Our team works closely with hospitals, medical providers, insurers and family representatives to coordinate every stage of the flight. This end-to-end approach helps ensure patients receive the right level of care while minimising delays during time-critical transfers.

Air Ambulance Charter Flights
Air ambulance flights use aircraft specifically configured for intensive care transport. These are used when a patient requires medical supervision and advanced life support during flight. Aircraft are equipped with specialist medical interiors, including stretcher systems, ventilators, monitoring equipment and space for a full medical team to treat the patient en route.
This type of transport is typically used for critically ill or injured patients or long-haul medical transfers. Air ambulance missions allow for hospital-level care to be maintained from bedside departure through to arrival at the receiving facility.
Medevac Charter Flights
Medevac flights refer to the urgent transportation of patients who require medical oversight during travel but may not need the full ICU capability of an air ambulance. These missions are often carried out using medically configured aircraft, with stretcher installations or seated medical escort arrangements depending on the patient’s condition.
They are commonly used for medical repatriation, emergency evacuations, or situations where patients need to be transported home or to a specialist facility when commercial flights are not suitable.
Medical situations don't come with notice, and the margin between everything working and everything going wrong often comes down to hours. These are a few of the medevac charters our team has arranged, from sourcing the right aircraft and medical configuration to clearing permits across borders against the clock.
• Lung transplant repatriation, Saudi Arabia to London: After becoming critically ill overseas, the patient needed to return to London for an urgent lung transplant. We sourced an ICU-configured Challenger 604 equipped to support continuous hospital-level care, enabling the medical team to monitor and treat the patient throughout the journey.
• Sick child transfer, Bahamas to Norfolk, Virginia: A family needed to get their child home for urgent medical treatment, and waiting for an aircraft to position to the Bahamas wasn't an option. Our experienced broker, Maria, identified a Citation Excel that was already en route to the islands and arranged for it to reposition as soon as it landed. Within hours, the family was airborne and back in Virginia the same day.
• Emergency medical transfer, Lagos to Geneva: A client's elderly parent suffered a cardiac event while travelling in Lagos, and the treatment they needed simply wasn't available locally. We arranged a Learjet 45 fitted with a portable ICU unit and medical crew, then worked through overflight permits across several jurisdictions while the aircraft was readied. The patient was admitted to hospital in Geneva the same day.
We understand that in medical situations, time is critical. Global Charter works with a global network of certified air ambulance operators and specialist charter aircraft to secure rapid-response medical flights at short notice.
The exact timeframe depends on the patient's medical condition, aircraft availability, the specialist equipment required and the route involved. More complex cases typically require more specialised aircraft and medical teams, which can take longer to arrange. Our brokers work quickly to source the most appropriate aircraft and coordinate every aspect of the mission to minimise delays.
A variety of aircraft are used for air ambulance flights around the world. The examples below are among the most commonly deployed for medical evacuations, chosen for their ability to accommodate specialist medical equipment, clinical teams and patients.
• Pilatus PC-12: A versatile turboprop widely used for regional air ambulance missions, offering excellent short-field performance and space for a stretcher, medical equipment and clinical crew.
• King Air 200: A proven twin-turboprop frequently deployed for medical evacuations, combining reliable performance with the ability to access smaller airports closer to patients.
• Learjet 45: A fast light jet commonly selected for domestic and international medevac flights, balancing speed with a cabin capable of supporting intensive care transport.
• Challenger 604: One of the leading choices for long-range medical repatriation, thanks to its spacious cabin, intercontinental range and capacity to accommodate advanced ICU equipment and multiple medical staff.
Helicopters are also used for certain air ambulance missions, particularly short-range or time-critical transfers, with aircraft such as the Sikorsky S-76 commonly deployed for hospital-to-hospital transfers and access to remote or inaccessible locations.
