Sports Air Charter Flights

For a professional sports team, travel is part of preparation. A squad flying out for an away fixture needs to arrive in condition to play, on a schedule built around kick-off rather than published airline routes, with the whole party – players, coaching staff, medical team, analysts, kit – moving together. Commercial aviation isn't built for that, which is why almost every top-level club and federation charters for competitive travel.
Global Charter runs a dedicated group charter team that arranges for exactly this kind of work. That includes national football teams to international tournaments and qualifiers, club sides to away legs in continental competition, and personnel for other sports where the calendar drives the travel, including Formula 1 teams between race weekends. Depending on the size of the travelling party, we arrange anything from smaller jets for staff and directors up to full commercial widebody aircraft that carry a complete squad, staff, and equipment.

Team charters usually start with a fixture list rather than a single trip. Clubs and federations share their competitive calendar in advance, and our group charter team plans the travel from there. Typically, the size of the party determines the aircraft selection: smaller jets for a lean squad and staff, a narrowbody like a Boeing 737 for a fuller party, or a widebody such as a 767 for a complete national team plus federation.
On the day, the operation compresses. The coach pulls to the aircraft, the party boards together with kit loaded directly into the hold, and cabin configuration, catering, and onboard requirements are set to what the medical and coaching staff have specified – sometimes with the club's own nutritionist involved. At the destination, the process reverses: ground transport is planeside, and the squad is on the coach within minutes of the doors opening.
✈︎ Schedule: Commercial routes rarely align with a fixture calendar. Charter flies when the fixture demands, with departures timed for arrival with room to acclimatise and returns that get the squad home within hours of the final whistle rather than the following afternoon.
✈︎ Recovery: Recovery starts the moment the match ends. On a chartered aircraft, the medical team is on board, players can sleep and stretch out properly, and food and hydration run on the team's schedule rather than the airline's.
✈︎ Whole travelling party together: A full sports team charter typically carries 40 to 80 people plus significant cargo of kit, medical supplies, and analysis equipment. Commercial can't accommodate that as a unit; on a chartered aircraft, the party and equipment travel together.
✈︎ Access, privacy and reliability: Chartered flights operate from private terminals, so boarding and ground transport are kept out of public halls. Charter's ability to substitute aircraft or absorb delays is far greater than a commercial passenger has any control over.

Sports We Charter For
Different sports move in different ways, from full team squads to individual athletes and their support staff. Below are some of the sports we charter for regularly.
Basketball
Squad and staff travel for fixtures with regular short-turnaround travel across a dense schedule.
athletics
Individual athletes and coaching teams travelling to international meets, championships and training camps.
FOOTBALL
National teams and club sides moving for international tournaments, qualifiers and continental competitions.
BASEBALL
Roster and coaching staff travel across long domestic seasons, where quick turnarounds make direct routing essential.
HORSE RACING
Owners, trainers, and connections flying to race meetings, often on tight schedules built around the racing calendar.
GOLF
Players and support staff moving between events on the circuit, where equipment and timing both need careful handling.
A EUROPEAN national football federation
One of our deepest relationships is with a European national football federation, arranging charter travel for their senior men's team, senior women's team, and under-21 squad across international qualifying campaigns. Depending on the fixture and the travelling party, we've flown them on aircraft ranging from a Boeing 737-800 in standard configuration to a 757-200 in VIP configuration, matching the cabin to what each trip requires.
The engagement runs across qualifying cycles rather than trip by trip, which is what makes it work. Our dedicated team charter specialists learn the preferences – aircraft, cabin configuration, catering set to the medical staff's specifications – so new fixtures slot into an established pattern rather than being rebuilt each time.
• Argentinian fans to the FIFA World Cup 2026: We chartered a Boeing 737 for a full group of Argentina fans travelling from Miami to Kansas City for their team's group match, then on to Dallas for the next fixture, and back to Miami afterwards. Moving a party of that size across three legs on the tournament schedule needed the aircraft, the airports at each stop, and the ground transfers all sequenced tightly around kick-off times.
• Patriots supporters to the Super Bowl: For a small group of Patriots fans, we arranged a charter in and out of Hayward on a Falcon 50 for Super Bowl weekend. As one of the tightest windows in US aviation, the Super Bowl demands careful coordination of slots, ground handling, and airport access around the event – working through availability constraints a standard charter wouldn't face.
