Best Airports in Malaga for Private Jets
Malaga is served by Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP) for private aviation – the region's main airport, situated around 8 kilometres southwest of the city centre and around 45 minutes by road to Marbella and Puerto Banús. AGP handles virtually all private aviation traffic into the wider Costa del Sol, with a dedicated general aviation terminal, full FBO facilities, and slot availability that generally holds up well through the year.
Through the summer months, particularly weekends in July and August, AGP runs at its busiest – slot and parking pressure firms up, and aircraft often need to reposition off-airport between drop-off and pick-up rather than hold on the ground. Early booking makes a real difference in this window.
Costa del Sol Itinerary
A rough 5-night trip that covers the region's main draws with scope to extend to 7 nights by adding time at either end.
When to go: May, June and September are the best months for this itinerary – warm, long days without the height-of-summer heat and crowds. July and August can be too hot and too busy on the coast, particularly around Marbella and Puerto Banús. Days 1–2: Marbella
Land at AGP and transfer to Marbella (around 45 minutes by road). Base yourself in the Golden Mile between Marbella town and Puerto Banús — the Marbella Club, Puente Romano and Nobu Hotel all sit within easy reach. First day for the beach and the Marbella Old Town in the evening; second day for lunch at a beach club and dinner at Skina or Dani García.
Day 3: Ronda
Drive up into the mountains for the day – Ronda sits around 90 minutes inland at 750 metres above sea level, spanning a dramatic gorge crossed by the Puente Nuevo. Worth a full day for the town, the bullring and the surrounding wineries. Return to Marbella for the evening.
Days 4–5: Puerto Banús and the coast
Move west along the coast to Puerto Banús for the yacht scene and the harbourside dining. Charter a boat for the day out towards Estepona and Sotogrande – the coast is at its best from the water. Dinner at Cipriani or a night at one of Puerto Banús' clubs if that's the trip.
Day 6 (optional): Sotogrande
Extend the trip with a day at Sotogrande – 45 minutes further west, quieter than Marbella, with the Real Club Valderrama for golf and La Reserva Beach for lunch.
Return: Malaga
Drive back east to AGP for the return flight, with time for a morning in Malaga city itself if the schedule allows – the Picasso Museum, the Alcazaba and lunch at José Carlos García are worth the stop.
