Private Jet Charter to Cancun

Cancun is the busiest resort destination in Mexico and one of the most visited in the Americas, built along a narrow strip of beach on the Caribbean side of the Yucatan peninsula. The hotel zone runs for around 14 miles between the sea and the Nichupte lagoon, with the older city inland from it, and the whole Riviera Maya extends south towards Playa del Carmen and Tulum.

The airport is 12 miles south of the hotel zone and handles the bulk of private traffic into the region. Most arrivals come from the United States, with Miami around 90 minutes away, and demand runs heaviest from December through to spring when the weather is at its best.

Cancun Private Jet Airports

Cancun International Airport (CUN) handles effectively all private traffic into the region, sitting 12 miles south of the hotel zone and around 20 minutes from most of the resorts. It is a busy commercial airport rather than a dedicated private field, but it has FBO facilities on site with separate handling and customs for private arrivals, and the runway takes anything in charter service.

Cozumel International (CZM) is worth considering only when the island itself is where you are going. It takes jets without difficulty, but anything on the mainland is better served by arriving at Cancun and continuing by road or ferry.

Popular Aircraft for Cancun Private Jet Charter

The aircraft for a Cancun trip follows the departure city more than anything else, since almost everything arrives from the United States and the distances vary widely.

Florida and the Gulf cities are the shortest run. Miami is around 90 minutes and Houston closer to two hours, both comfortable for a light or midsize jet, and a Citation XLS or Phenom 300 covers most of what we place on them.

The longer domestic routes change the requirement. New York, Chicago and the west coast all sit beyond four hours, which calls for a super-midsize or heavy jet to make it nonstop with a full cabin. For larger groups travelling together, which is common on resort trips, a heavy jet is often the answer regardless of the distance.

Best Time to Charter to Cancun

December through to April is the busiest stretch, with dry, warm weather and the resorts at their fullest. Aircraft availability across Florida and the Gulf tightens over Christmas, New Year and Easter, so those weeks are worth arranging well ahead.

March brings spring break, which concentrates on particular parts of the hotel zone but affects airport congestion and ground transport more widely.

The summer and autumn months are quieter and often the better time to fly. Availability is easier, prices are softer, and the weather through May, June and November is reliable enough that the resorts stay busy. The rainy season brings afternoon showers rather than washouts, and most trips are unaffected.

How to Charter a Private Jet to Cancun

Tell us where you are flying from, your dates and how many of you there are, and we will come back with aircraft options and a price against each.

Flying into Mexico adds a few requirements that domestic trips do not. Passports are needed for everyone on board, the manifest has to be filed before departure, and arrivals clear customs and immigration at Cancun. We handle the filing and the arrangements on the ground at both ends.

Christmas, New Year and Easter are the weeks that go first, and aircraft across Florida and the Gulf get committed early for them. Request a quote and we will come back with options.
