Private Jet Charter Miami

Miami handles more private jet traffic than almost anywhere in the United States, and the reason is its position rather than its size. The city sits at the point where North America, the Caribbean and Latin America meet, which makes it both a destination in its own right and the departure point for a great deal of what flies south and east of it.

Global Charter has run a Miami office for some years, and it covers more of our American business than any other. Traffic arrives from the northeast from November and holds through the winter, then reverses in spring as the heat sets in. Art Basel in December and the Grand Prix in May sit at either end of that, and both are weeks when aircraft and parking across south Florida go early.

Miami Private Jet Airports

Opa-locka handles the largest share of private traffic in the Miami area, operating without commercial schedules from a site around 12 miles north of downtown. Miami International takes private flights alongside its airline operations, and Miami Executive serves the southern side of the metropolitan area.

  • Miami-Opa Locka Executive (OPF): 12 miles north of downtown and the default for most private trips, with multiple FBOs, customs on site and a runway taking anything in charter service. Convenient for Miami Beach, Aventura and Bal Harbour.
  • Miami International (MIA): 8 miles west of downtown, with private handling separate from the commercial terminals. Busier on the ground, but useful for larger aircraft and international arrivals where the customs arrangement suits.
  • Miami Executive (TMB): 15 miles southwest at Kendall, and the better option for the southern suburbs, Coral Gables and anyone heading towards the Keys.

Miami Private Jet Charter Cost

Miami prices move with the season more than most markets, and the same route can look quite different in February than it does in August. Two of the busiest give a sense of the range: New York to Miami is the heaviest corridor on the east coast and runs constantly in both directions, while Miami to the Bahamas is short enough that the flight is often the least of the arrangements.

Starting prices across the routes we handle most, in either direction:

From/To Location Prices From Estimated Flight Time
Bahamas $7,250 45m
Cancun $9,500 1h 30m
New York $16,000 2h 30m
Las Vegas $30,000 4h 45m
London $80,000 8h 30m

‍

Final pricing depends on the selected aircraft, departure airport, arrival airport, aircraft positioning, seasonal demand and any additional service requirements.

Popular Aircraft for Miami Private Jet Charter

What suits a Miami trip depends mostly on whether you are crossing water or heading up the coast.

The Bahamas, Cancun and the nearer Caribbean islands are short enough that a turboprop makes good sense, and a King Air or Pilatus PC-12 covers most of that flying. Both get into the smaller island strips that jets cannot use, which matters more on those routes than speed does.

Heading north, the east coast legs to New York, Boston and Washington sit comfortably in light and midsize territory, where a Citation XLS or Phenom 300 handles the distance with the cabin for a two to three hour flight. Transcontinental trips to Los Angeles or Las Vegas need a super-midsize or heavy jet to make it nonstop.

Miami Destination Guide

Most people chartering into Miami are heading somewhere specific rather than the city generally, and the geography is unusually forgiving. Miami Beach, Aventura and Bal Harbour are all within half an hour of Opa-locka, and Coral Gables and the southern suburbs are closer to Miami Executive.

The Florida Keys run south from here along a single road. Key Largo is around 60 miles, roughly an hour by car, and the drive down the Overseas Highway is part of the appeal. Further out, Marathon and Key West are quicker by air than by road, both inside an hour from Miami, which is worth knowing if the trip is short.

The same proximity applies looking outward. Cancun is around two hours west across the Gulf, and Turks and Caicos a similar distance southeast, both close enough that Miami often works better as the jumping off point than as the destination. A fair number of trips we arrange pair the two, with a few days in the city either side of an island leg.

Arranging Your Miami Charter

Miami is one of the easier markets to arrange at short notice. There are more aircraft based across south Florida than almost anywhere in the country, and on most routes we are choosing between several options rather than hunting for one. Same-day departures are realistic outside the busiest weeks.

Where it gets harder is the season. From November through to spring, and particularly around Art Basel and the Grand Prix, parking at Opa-locka and the surrounding fields goes well in advance, and the aircraft follow it.

International trips take a little more lead time regardless, since the manifest filing and customs arrangements at both ends have to be in place before departure. Send us the route and the dates and we will come back with options. Request a quote or call the Miami office on +1 305 504 2449.
