Ibiza is the anchor destination, running on villa stays, beach clubs and the wider dance calendar; Palma de Mallorca is the quieter, more family-oriented alternative and increasingly a fine-dining destination in its own right. Menorca sits alongside as the low-key option for clients wanting the Balearics without the crowds.

Major Cities

Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia cover Spain's mainland private aviation traffic across three distinct patterns. Madrid runs primarily on business, tied to its role as the country's corporate and government capital. Barcelona balances heavy business demand with cultural leisure and Balearic onward traffic. Valencia sits on the eastern coast with a smaller but steady European-heavy flow through the year.

Andalucia and the Costa del Sol

Southern Spain's private aviation traffic covers two overlapping markets: the resort scene along the Costa del Sol from Málaga west to Marbella and Puerto Banús, and the inland cultural cities of Seville, Córdoba and Granada. Málaga Airport (AGP) handles the majority of the region's private traffic, with Seville Airport (SVQ) as the alternative entry point for trips anchored on the western side. The Costa del Sol runs year-round with a summer peak; the inland cities peak around Semana Santa in spring and cultural events through the shoulder seasons.

Costa Blanca

The Costa Blanca sits south of Valencia along the Alicante coast, served by Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC). The market is smaller than Costa del Sol but genuine, focused on the Marina Alta stretch around Denia, Moraira and Jávea – a long-standing British expat destination that's grown into a more upmarket villa and dining market in recent years.

• Summer (June–September) is the peak season across most of the country. The Balearics and the Costa del Sol run at their busiest, with weekend slots into Ibiza, Palma and Málaga booking out well in advance through July and August. Inland Spain – Madrid, Seville and Andalucia's interior – is best avoided in high summer, when temperatures regularly push past 35°C and much of the local population leaves for the coast.

• Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) are the sweet spots for the mainland cities. Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia all sit at their most workable in these windows, with mild weather, easier hotel availability, and the strongest cultural calendars – Semana Santa in Seville, Feria de Abril, and the various Spanish grand prix and business events.

• Winter (November–March) is the quietest window across most of Spain, though the Costa del Sol keeps a steady flow of shoulder-season traffic and Barcelona and Madrid run their business calendars as normal. This is the period when short-notice bookings are easiest and rates are most flexible.
